METAL SHAFT STRUCTURES: WHEN STRUCTURAL INSPECTION GOES HAND IN HAND WITH AESTHETICS

The extension of the Architectural Barriers Bonus could have nothing but a positive impact on the lift market, especially for what concerns the segment of metal shaft structures, namely those structures that allow to install a lift inside existing buildings. We talked about the needs of this sector with three companies, known for their vertical expertise in the field, that already confirmed their presence at GEE, Global Elevator Exhibition: Cast Strutture, Indastria Srl and Lifting Italia Arealift.

As it is well known, Budget Law 2023 has extended the architectural barrier bonus until 31 December 2025. The manoeuvre consists in a series of specific facilitations for all the interventions aimed at overcoming or eliminating uncomfortable situations with respect to internal mobility of buildings.

As a matter of fact, for works to be carried out on existing buildings by the end of 2025, there will be an Irpef tax deduction with a bonus equal to 75% of the expenses incurred, up to a maximum amount varying from 30,000 to 50,000 euros, depending on the type of building. Obviously, this tax concession will be applied also to projects involving lifts and freight elevators, such as the construction of systems and technologies to promote mobility inside existing buildings, including metal structures.

Also known as 'castelletti’ in Italian, metal shaft structures are a solution for all those buildings or apartment blocks that were built without a lift system. These structures can be placed both indoors or outdoors and are perfectly adaptable to any type of space and architectural style.

However, when incorporating a metal structure into a project, several factors must be taken into account, as it is essential to find a balance between the technical requirements to place the lift and the structural and decorative aspects of the building in order to maintain a unified style.
